The kids bathroom renovation is complete. It took longer than expected (gotta love the supply chain issues), but it’s finally done and I love it so much! I mean..it wasn’t terrible before, but it was boring builder grade. And needed a bit of a facelift to truly make this space feel like ours.
Both kid bedrooms have an ensuite attached, and this is the primary one we use as it has a bath tub for the kids. The overall footprint of the kids bathroom did not change as it was already functional and more so needed a cosmetic upgrade. We repurposed the vanity base, refinished the tub and kept the toilet to save some money. And we also did most of the painting ourselves, too!
Bathroom Tile:
I wanted the tile selections to be classic and timeless, but also have an element of fun. The tile I selected porcelain floor tile in a hexagon shape and paired it with this beautiful gradient crayon style wall tile in a glossy greige colour way. I LOVE the variation of the wall tile and how it creates such depth to the space. The shape compliments the hexagon floor tile perfectly, and will be a classic shape tile for years to come.
The Vanity + Tub:
The original vanity was your standard builder grade box with two doors. I had the doors replaced with two pull out drawers instead. This created a better storage solution for the girls, and is much easier to organize than a deep cabinet. I also had the vanities refinished in Benjamin Moore – White Dove. It’s a beautiful warm white.
We kept the original tub and had it re-finished in a bright white. The walls were painted in Pale Oak from Benjamin Moore and it’s one of the prettiest neutral colours. Sometimes it pulls more warm white, and other times it’s more gray. I love it.
Mixing Metals:
The last thing that was updated in the kids bathroom was the light fixture and plumbing fixtures. I love love love mixing metals, and this was the perfect space to do that in. I chose polished nickel for the plumbing fixtures and mirror for a timeless feel, and paired them with brass handles on the vanity and light fixture. The end result is stunning with these two finishes. I’ll share more tips on mixing metals with you soon.
