DIY Dollhouse Plans are here! Many of you have been asking about this lately, especially as a potential Christmas gift for your littles – so here it is!
If you remember a few months ago, I sketched out some plans on paper, picked up my wood, and started building the dollhouse for my daughter. As with any DIY, there were a few minor hiccups, but if you just keep going it will all be worth it!
This project was so special to me – it was my first major woodworking project, and is something I have been wanting to attempt for Aria for months. She loves it, and it’s a pretty cool feeling when she tells everyone “mama built this dollhouse” to whoever comes over and sees her room. And really, it wasn’t as hard as I thought it would be!
Without further adieu, here are the complete plans and instructions to build your own DIY Dollhouse! It took me about 2-3 weeks (not consistent work either due to just life/work), so you have plenty of time to pull one together for the ultimate heirloom Christmas gift!
Cut all your boards, including your arch doorways and lay them out before you attach. This will make sure you don’t run into any issues when assembling.
Some of my wood was really bowed (pandemic probs), but a little wood filler in the gaps will fix that. Attach all your pieces with your nail gun, starting at the bottom. Once they are all attached use wood filler to fill in your gaps, and sand them down for a nice smooth finish.
Time to Paint!
Paint your entire dollhouse before you attach the backing. It makes it much easier to get into every corner. My other tip is to paint your backing BEFORE you attach it – again, it will make painting quicker and easier.
