The Guest and kids bathroom renovation plans finally revealed!
But first, an update on the bathroom renovations. Demo has happened, and we are now in the drywall stage. We had a little condensation issue in our home where the attic was “raining” behind our walls last year.
As our contractor opened up our daughter’s bathroom, we found out the builder did not insulate above the shower, and because our roof is vaulted, it provided a lot of space for water to escape to and become trapped and created the condensation. We made the decision to spray foam above her shower, and they were also able to go above our primary bath shower (they share a wall), and so here’s to hoping no more condensation in our walls that could ruin our new carpet!
Ok onto the designs….
The Guest Bathroom Design
The goal of this bathroom was to make it feel elegant, and inviting. We are removing a large portion of the shower wall and making it glass instead to open it up and make it feel more airy. We also added in a second recessed light along the back wall, and it’s making all of the difference right now.
The shower tile is going to be imperfect, but perfect Zellige tile. It’s going to give the wall texture, and it just is such beautiful tile. It will be paired with penny tile on the floor, and polished nickel shower hardware. All the heart eyes, right?
The vanity will be sanded down to its natural wood state. And then stained in a medium tone. I am hoping we can get to the colour I want, but worst case, we’ll paint the vanities or replace the fronts. Completing the bathroom are two brass sconces that are sleek, but so elegant and a slim vintage style mirror. I am going to paint the walls in a Sherwin Williams- Evergreen Fog (the colour of the year!), to complete the spa-like feel of this bathroom.
The Kids Bathroom Design
The other kids bathroom has similar finishes as our daughter’s to make sure they feel cohesive upstairs. I chose a picket style tile for the bath/shower walls which is in a gradient gray. The gradient will add depth and movement to the back wall. While the floor tile is a beautiful porcelain hexagon tile. I carried throughthe same style of polished nickel hardware, mixed with a touch of brass.
I am still debating on the wall colour or if I will wallpaper. It will all depend on what baby will be as I’d like the bathroom to work with the nursery. So stay tuned for more details on that… we find out this week! For now though, here are the tile and hardware selections.
