Our clients were embarking on their first home together, and wanted to take this dated home into the modern age, while also creating a home that they were proud of.
The Arch House was appropriately named for all of the arches that this house featured. We kept most of them as they worked well with the design and the clients loved them! The scope of this project was a full-scale renovation, and we could not be more proud of how this one turned out. Wait until you see the before photos!
Project Goals:
The clients wanted the home to feel warm, modern and minimal. On the main floor, the goals were to create a statement bar in the dining room for entertaining, expand the kitchen for more storage, and create a focal point in the living room by removing the bulky old fireplace. We’ll touch on the other spaces in our next blog post.

The Kitchen:
The kitchen footprint did not change much in this home. We gained square footage by removing the corner pantry and utilizing that new space to create a pantry wall of rollouts instead. They are much more functional and create a better flow in the kitchen. The island was also increased in size, and we removed the odd angled corners the previous one had. We especially love the backsplash with its modern lines and varying white tones.

The Befores:
Oh! These before photos…wow! They felt like two completely different homes, and now the home all speaks to one another and feels cohesive.

The Living Room
This home has a beautiful two storey living room with a wall full of windows. However, it felt dated and the bulky fireplace wasn’t helping this room out. We painted the window frames black to make them pop, and removed the entire fireplace to create a more warm, and clean space. We took the fireplace to the ceiling, added in beautiful built ins to truly transform this space.

The living room was styled with cozy and warm furniture, a textured rug and layers of accessories. In neutral spaces, texture is key to add interest into the space. Wood accents keep the minimal and white room feeling warm and inviting. It definitely feels like the perfect spot to binge watch your favourite tv shows.

This project was such a dream, complete with dream clients who trusted us throughout the entire process. We are very proud of this home, and we can’t wait to share more spaces of the #ArchHouse. For the full portfolio on this project, head to Arch House Portfolio!
