5 Simple Ways to Make your Home Holiday Ready

With the recent snowfall we had, there is no better time than now to get your house holiday ready… and if you are like me, there is just SOMETHING about holiday decor that brings me all the joy. The twinkling lights, the nostalgia, the fresh greens, and the memories we create each year are all things that bring me joy. We are travelling a lot this coming December, so I had no problem decorating a bit early so we could fully enjoy it all!

Read on for 5 simple ways to make your home holiday ready!

1. Bring the outdoors in with greenery

It’s no secret that here at LJH, greenery is a favourite decor item. Trade your fall stems for winter stems such as pine, cedar or juniper to easily make your home feel winterized.  I love these real touch stems – they are so soft and look incredibly real. You can go the real route with fresh cut greens, but remember our heaters will dry them out, so you have to be diligent about misting them consistently.

2. Mini Christmas Trees....everywhere!

Who doesn’t love a mini Christmas tree?? They are so dang cute, and you can place them literally anywhere to add in a touch of holiday. Place them on your coffee table, mantel, or bookshelves or in less obvious places like your bathrooms or on your kitchen island.

3. Focus more on the winter season

Focus more on transitioning your decor to the winter season, rather than the actual holiday. Small touches of holiday are fun, but for your main colours – use winter whites and neutrals for a light and airy look, or moody hues like deep merlot or the trending rust color tones. Stay away from the traditional Santa red and green to keep your decor elevated and fresh past the holiday season.

4. Add in Warmth and Texture

The winter season is all about the cozy vibes. Add in a chunky knit blanket and vintage pillow covers to set the cozy factor up. And by using wood and natural decor, like wooden trees and textured ornament you instantly bring warmth to your home. These star ornaments are great for texture and the shape creates more interest on your tree.

5. Swap out your bowl fillers

Swap out the moss in your bowls and change it to acorns or extra ornaments for instant holiday vibes. Vintage brass bells also look great in a bowl. If you use Acorns, they can stay in your bowls after the holiday season, too!
