A Gallery wall is a great way to infuse your kid’s personality into their room. They are affordable, and offer an easy update to their space.

Gallery walls allow you to use artwork that reflects your kid’s interests or to showcase their own handmade art. Another bonus – the artwork can also be swapped out in the frames as their interests change (or they create new pieces).

If the sound of a gallery wall intimidates you, here are 3 steps to help you create the perfect one for your child.

1.  Choosing Artwork + Objects

Choose a few colours that work together and base your art prints on that. The same goes if you are using your kids actual art – find pieces that seem to talk to one another. In the kids bedroom below, we love how the eclectic mix of prints, and objects add a playful element to the space. Bonus Tip: to save a bit of money, find digital downloadable prints like this one, or this one.

2.  Arrange your Frames

Aim to fill about 60-70% of your available wall space (either above a dresser or bed) to ensure scale is right. Lay out all your frames on the floor and adjust until it feels right. Then mark your walls with painters tape. This will help you visualize scale and where each frame/object will go. Try to place prints with common colours opposite of one another on the wall to create balance.

3. Get the Spacing Right

Next up is to hang your frames.  You want to ensure you keep frames about 2 to 3 inches apart when hanging them on the wall. This will make sure they feel cohesive!

And that’s it! You’ve just created a gallery wall for your kids room.
