2026 Interior Design Trends We Love (and How to Make Them Your Own)

Every year brings a fresh wave of design inspiration and 2026 interior design trends are shaping up to be a beautiful blend of warmth, personality, and intention. That said, trends are just that: trends. They’re meant to inspire, not dictate. The most timeless homes are always the ones that reflect the people who live in them.

Take what resonates, leave what doesn’t, and always design in a way that feels right for you.

Darker Wood Tones

This is one we are excited about! Darker wood tones bring back a sense of richness and depth back into our interiors. Walnut cabinetry (one of my faves!), dark stained oak paired with warm, moody finishes add instant character to a space.

How to incorporate it into your home:

You don’t need a full renovation to embrace darker wood tones. Start small with a darker wood coffee table, side table, or dining chairs. Refinishing an existing piece or adding darker wood through shelving, frames, or accent furniture is an easy, low-commitment way to tap into this trend.

Pattern Play

Pattern play is one of the most expressive interior design trends for 2026. Instead of perfectly matched patterns, we’re seeing a more collected and layered approach—mixing stripes, florals, geometrics, and organic prints to create spaces that feel personal and lived-in.

How to Incorporate into your home:

Introduce pattern through throw pillows, area rugs, wallpaper in a powder room, or even patterned drapery. Keep the look cohesive by sticking to a consistent color palette, and remember: balance is key. A little pattern goes a long way.

Artisanal Tile

Handmade and hand painted create artistic statements adding character and individuality to backsplashes, fireplaces, bathrooms and more. Their natural imperfections are what make them so beautiful.

How to Incorporate into your home:

Consider an artisanal tile backsplash, a shower niche, fireplace surround, or laundry room feature wall. Let the tile shine by pairing it with simple cabinetry and neutral finishes.

Dedicated Wellness Spaces

Wellness-focused interiors are becoming essential rather than optional. One of the most meaningful interior design trends for 2026 is the creation of dedicated wellness spaces—areas designed to support rest, mindfulness, and everyday rituals.

How to Incorporate into your home:

A wellness space doesn’t need to be a full room. Create a calming corner with a cozy chair and soft lighting, carve out space for yoga or stretching, or bring spa-like elements into your bathroom with natural materials, warm lighting, and minimal clutter. Of course, saunas and home gyms are also always welcome too!

Personalization

I don’t know if you can exactly call this a “trend” as we’ve been designing spaces for our clients personal styles forever… but we included it! Homes should always be reflective of the people who live in them, filled with meaning, memories, and moments that tell a story. That is truly what makes a home yours!

How to Incorporate into your home:

Designate space for what you love most: a reading nook, a home office that actually inspires you, a hobby corner, or a gallery wall filled with personal art and photos. Incorporate pieces with history on your bookshelves, heirlooms, vintage finds, or custom details—to create a home that feels uniquely yours.

Trends will always come and go, but your home should always feel like you. If something sparks excitement or feels right for your lifestyle, it’s worth exploring. And if it doesn’t? You can confidently leave it behind.

Design should support how you live every day, not just how your home looks in photos. That’s where thoughtful, personal design truly shines.

If you’d like help translating these trends into a home that feels timeless, functional, and deeply personal, I’d love to guide you through the process. Fill out our contact form today to get your project started!
